Languages South East started on 1st April 2011 and builds on the work carried out by the Links into Languages South East regional centre, following the decision by the DfE to not continue the Links into Languages programme beyond March 2011.
From April 2011, the University of Southampton has also been the South East regional member of the Network for Languages. This new network, consisting of the nine former Links into Languages regional centres, is committed to excellence in language learning and teaching in all settings, sectors and phases. For more information about the network and its members, go to www.networkforlanguages.org.uk
Languages South East is based at the University of Southampton’s Avenue Campus, and works closely with the Modern Languages department at the university and the Subject Centre for Languages Linguistics and Area Studies, also based at the university.
Here at the University of Southampton's Avenue Campus, you will find our regional centre, which incorporates the Centre for Applied Language Research and the Centre for Language Study. If you would like to come and take a look at a wide range of resources, or would like to use the room for your language meetings, please email Marie Weaver on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 023 8059 9135.
